Sure. I get along pretty well with animals.[And Izumi arrives a little later, wearing a summer outfit of her own, namely the one in the same picture. She hesitates for a moment before ringing the doorbell.]

[...so why is kouji feeling so nervous when... well, when it's just izumi. he's known her for so long, really good friends, but she's never been over to his house?!

so weird.

he's moving towards the door, quickly coming over to it and opening it up, and it takes him a moment, just staring at her, looking at her outfit and ah.... okay, why does she have to look so cute?! this makes this a lot harder!]

Hey. [but he won't compliment her, not until he really works up the courage to.]

Come on in. [and he turns, gesturing her inside.... kouji's family is a little on the wealthy side so his house is a fair size as well.]

Hi.

...thanks.

[She smiles nervously and steps inside. She's never been inside a boy's house before, and Kouji's home is big. Her family is fairly well off as well, thanks to her father's work, but she still finds Kouji's house impressive. She spends a moment or two just staring at everything.]

[once they're inside a little ways kouji turns to look at her, a hand in his pocket as usual.]

Want anything to drink.

[he looks off to the side for a moment, his other hand rubbing the back of his neck.]

...I've never really entertained a guest before besides Kyouko so... sorry if I'm not the best host.

[There's perhaps a flicker of jealousy in her eyes, but it's brief. She feels guilty about it, too. Surely Kyouko deserved to visit in a good home. Izumi smiles it away and nods.]

Some water would be nice. I'm not expected you to be any different than usual, you know.

[jealousy? little does izumi know she has nothing to be jealous about, it's just taken this long because kouji was overly nervous too about asking her to come over for the longest time.

....hell, he's had that stuffed toy for her for months now and just wasn't able to do this until now.]

Hmm.. [he makes a noise in response, but then just smiles at her.]

It's weird for someone to want my usual self, a little too rough around the edges if you ask me.

Maybe. [Izumi shrugged and smiled knowingly. Sure, his stubbornness was a pain to deal with sometimes, but if she didn't know for sure what a good person Kouji was underneath it all, she wouldn't go through the trouble of dealing with him in the first place.]

You've gotten better. A bit smoother than when I first met you.

Smoother....

[he repeats it, seemingly testing the word out himself before it really registers. yeah, he knows he's gotten way better when he first met everyone, it seemed as though they all just had trouble making friends and didn't know the real value of any of that.]

You too, you might not have noticed it but you opened up more too.

[as he says this he's turning to get glasses for the both of them, getting the water she requested. as he did this however his dog came trotting in, a rather large one- maybe a german shepherd? either way it was looking at izumi now with its big black eyes.]

[Izumi's cheeks turn pink at the compliment. It is something she's noticed about herself, but it was different for someone else, for Kouji, to notice.

She gasps when the dog appears though, and her face lights up.]

Oh! Buon cane! Come here boy!

[She kneels down and holds out her hand to the dog.]

[....and she's more interested in his dog now it seems.... he just stares at the interaction, and he can't help but smile still.]

...That's Taro.

[the dog wags his tail, moving closer to izumi and the pup starts to lick her hand, seemingly approving of the girl.]

He can be a bit of a brat but that's alright.

[As Taro tickles her hand with his tongue, Izumi bends down so that she can better pat him. She reaches with her other hand and scratches at his neck.]

Oh, no. He's a sweetheart!

[kouji watches the scene play out and he just huffs.]

See, that's what he wants you to think.

[She just laughs and gives most of her attention to Taro.]

More like he knows how stubborn you are and how nice I am.

Really, is that it?

[he walks over to her, kneeling down and moving to scratch taro on the head as well.]

Guess he's got that right.

[he muttered it, but he still said it enough for her to hear.]

[And oh boy does she hear it. She glances up at him, looking a little startled.]

What?

You're nice.

[he repeats it, taking a moment to look up, staring into those green eyes of hers for a moment before he moves to stand up once more.]

C'mon, let's go to my room. [and he's grabbing the glasses of water and moving to walk there...]

[She stays frozen in place for a moment, stunned. Eventually she scrambles to her feet and follows him.

Maybe she should have pushed the point, but she didn't think she'd get much information.]

Um...thank you.

[...it's a good thing she was behind him, his face was feeling hot from the way he had complimented her and she actually took it.

nope, had to pretend he was cool about this. that he didn't like her in any other way besides a friend.

he started to climb the set of stairs, slowly moving up and eventually they rounded a corner and made it into his room. it was a simple boy's room, really. desk in the corner, bed on the other side, a table set up in the middle where they could sit at, and there were some posters around, even a guitar in one of the corners. he set the waters down on the table, then just sat on the floor.]

Make yourself comfortable. [like he cares if she wants to look around.]

[Oh, does she ever want to look around. The bedroom. The inner-workings of Kouji. Ha.

She looks around, impressed with how clean it is. After getting a good look at everything she takes her glass of water from the table...and sits on the floor with Kouji because that's how she rolls.]

I didn't know you played guitar.

[he shrugs, moving to grab at the collar of his tanktop, tugging on it, almost like he's trying to get some air, it was still so hot due to the summer weather.]

Here and there. I'm not overly good at it or anything but I do like playing it. [...oh right he has a gift for her.]

[She sips quietly from her glass. The water is refreshing, plus a nice distraction.]

I'd like to hear you play sometime. I mean, if you don't mind.

I don't really care. I'll play it for you if you want.

[...how to give it to her..

that's all he can really think about, he's never actually... been overly good at showing his feelings or anything, generally people wouldn't think he was the team member that held the spirit of light, of all things. he was usually the gloomy one...

but then he got up and walked to his desk.]

You know. One time I went to Natsume's culture festival at his school and um... [he moves to pull out a pink stuffed...bird? from the desk. it was strange, and generally izumi liked odd things... right? so he turned to her and held the thing up.]

Saw this there. Thought you'd like it so I'm... giving it to you. [he frowned even harder and he walked back, sitting again and placed it on the table.]

[Well, she's distracted from the guitar for now. She reaches at the table and takes the toy. She examines it, slowly turning it around in her hands and glances back up at Kouji. She looks stunned again, and her cheeks are a soft shade of pink.]

Really? You want me to have it?

I said that, didn't I?

[he wasn't looking at her, he was looking away, his cheeks most definitely pink, and with each moment they might be turning a darker shade of red.]

...Do you like it?

[She makes a small little nod, but then realizes Kouji isn't looking at her.]

Yes. It's...cute.
